On the night of Saturday, April 3, 2021, the sounds of gunshots shattered the peace in the 4200 block of 4th Street in Southeast Washington, D.C. Responding to the reports at approximately 10:14 p.m., officers from the Metropolitan Police Department's Seventh District arrived at a residential building to a grim scene. Inside, they discovered the bodies of two men who had been shot multiple times.
The victims were identified as 26-year-old Antuan Davis, who was of no fixed address, and his 29-year-old brother, Anthony Davis, of Temple Hills, Maryland. D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded but found no signs of life in either man.
Antuan and his brother were pronounced dead at the scene, their lives cut short in a violent double homicide that took place inside the residence. The brothers were described as inseparable and were well-loved by their community, who later built a shrine in their memory. Their mother, Kera Carter, believes the shooting was a targeted attack. In the wake of their deaths, she mourned the loss of her only two children. Anthony left behind a wife and two children, and Antuan was the father of a young son.
The Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch is leading the investigation into the murders of Antuan and Anthony Davis. As of now, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the double homicide. The police have appealed to the public for assistance, offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the shooting. The case remains an open and active investigation, leaving a family and a community searching for answers and justice for the two brothers whose lives were tragically taken.
