On August 24, 2024, at approximately 5:39 p.m., officers from the Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of a shooting in the 3800 block of Minnesota Avenue, Northeast Washington, D.C. Upon arrival, they found 49-year-old Michael Simpson suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
