In the late hours of a Tuesday in Washington, D.C., the life of 20-year-old Malik Tyger was tragically cut short. On April 27, 2021, at approximately 11:14 p.m., the sound of gunfire echoed in the 100 block of 35th Street, Southeast. When officers from the Sixth District arrived at the residential building, they found a grim scene. Tyger, a resident of Southeast, D.C., was discovered inside, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical services were called to the location,
but upon their arrival, they found no signs of life. Malik Tyger was pronounced dead at the scene, his body later transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch immediately launched an investigation into the fatal shooting, classifying it as a homicide.
In the days and weeks that followed, the police department appealed to the public for any information that could lead to the apprehension of the person or persons responsible for Tyger's death. A substantial reward of up to $25,000 was offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction. However, despite these efforts, the case remains an open and unsolved homicide. To date, there has been no public announcement of any arrests made or any suspects identified in connection with the murder of Malik Tyger.
