On the evening of Friday, January 18, 2008, a burst of gunfire shattered the cold night air in the 1500 block of V Street, Southeast, in Washington, D.C. When the sounds of the shots faded, Jerome Williams was left fatally wounded. The incident, which occurred at approximately 6:40 p.m., is being investigated by the Metropolitan Police Department as a homicide.
