In the evening hours of Wednesday, April 22, 2026, tragedy struck in a Southeast Washington, D.C. neighborhood, claiming the life of 24-year-old Illijah Gregory. A resident of Northwest D.C., the young man was discovered by Metropolitan Police Department officers who were responding to reports of a shooting in the 2300 block of Pitts Place, Southeast, at approximately 7:45 p.m.
