In the late afternoon of September 20, 2023, a burst of gunfire shattered the peace in Marvin Gaye Park in Northeast Washington, D.C., leaving one man dead and another wounded. The deceased was identified as 64-year-old Dwain Francis Day, a male resident of Southwest D.C. The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. in the 5200 block of Foote Street, Northeast.
