In the quiet, early hours of a Sunday morning in the nation's capital, tragedy befell a young man. Derrick Marvin Baugham, a 25-year-old Black male from Southwest D.C., was fatally shot on November 24, 2013. The incident occurred at approximately 3:08 a.m. in the unit block of Galveston Place, Southwest. When officers from the Metropolitan Police Department arrived at the scene, they discovered Baugham with an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the location.
