Do you know who murdered Paul Henderson? In the spring of 2012, the life of 30-year-old Draynell Paul Henderson was tragically cut short. On April 11th, Henderson was shot and killed inside his apartment located in the 660 block of 24th Street in Northeast Washington, D.C. The male victim's death would quickly lead to an arrest and a resolution in the justice system.
The day following the fatal shooting, the Metropolitan Police Department apprehended a suspect, Keyon Caldwell, a 33-year-old resident of Northeast D.C.
A witness placed Caldwell inside Henderson's apartment at the time of the incident. Caldwell was subsequently charged with second-degree murder while armed in connection with Henderson's death. During his initial court appearance, Caldwell made statements indicating his involvement, telling the court, 'I'm not denying anything.'
The legal proceedings moved swiftly. Just over two weeks after his arrest, Keyon Caldwell chose to plead guilty to the charge of voluntary manslaughter while armed. By doing so, he waived his right to a grand jury hearing and a trial by jury. Prosecutors in the case asserted that the violent act was influenced by the drug PCP. On September 21, 2012, Caldwell was sentenced to a term of 15 years in prison, which would be followed by five years of supervised release for his role in the death of Draynell Paul Henderson.
