On July 17, 2019, Mondell Valentine, a 28-year-old resident of Takoma Park, Maryland, was shot and killed in the 3800 block of 2nd Street, SE, in Washington, D.C. The incident took place around 4:24 PM, and police officers from the Seventh District responded to reports of gunfire. When they arrived at the scene, they found Valentine suffering from a gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead later that day.
