A quiet street in Southeast Washington, D.C. was shattered by the sound of gunfire on a Friday night, leaving a community in mourning and a family searching for answers. On August 27, 2021, 43-year-old Tennelle Smith, a resident of Northeast Washington, was discovered inside a vehicle in the 2300 block of Ainger Place SE. She was suffering from gunshot wounds and was rushed to a nearby hospital, but tragically, her life could not be saved.
