On a late summer night in 2019, 20-year-old Sean Coleman-Bey, a Black / African American man, stepped into an establishment along the 1300 block of Brentwood Road Northeast in Washington, D.C., unaware that his life was about to be cut short. Around 10:21 p.m. on September 19, officers from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Fifth District rushed to the area after multiple calls reporting the sound of gunfire.
