On a Friday afternoon in the spring of 2022, the life of Cedric Williams was cut short in a burst of gunfire. The 34-year-old man was in the intersection of Poplar Street and Oak Drive, in Southeast Washington, D.C., on May 20th when the fatal shooting occurred. At approximately 1:28 p.m., officers from the Metropolitan Police Department's Seventh District were dispatched to the location after reports of a shooting.
