On a Friday afternoon in the spring of 2022, the life of Cedric Williams was cut short in a burst of gunfire. The 34-year-old man was in the intersection of Poplar Street and Oak Drive, in Southeast Washington, D.C., on May 20th when the fatal shooting occurred. At approximately 1:28 p.m., officers from the Metropolitan Police Department's Seventh District were dispatched to the location after reports of a shooting.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Cedric Williams suffering from an
apparent gunshot wound. D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the scene and, after examining him, pronounced him dead from his injuries. His body was subsequently transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch are actively investigating the incident. Authorities have reached out to the public for assistance, urging anyone with information to come forward. A reward of up to $25,000 has been offered for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this homicide. To date, no arrests have been publicly announced, and no suspects have been officially named in connection with the shooting of Cedric Williams.
