In the early morning hours of a Saturday in late August 2023, the sounds of gunfire shattered the peace in the Northwest quadrant of Washington, D.C. When officers from the Metropolitan Police Department's Third District arrived at the 2000 block of 10th Street, Northwest, around 4:06 a.m., they discovered a grim scene. An 18-year-old Black male, Keni Edwards of Southeast, D.C., was found suffering from gunshot wounds.
