On July 19, 2021, at approximately 7:42 pm, members of the Fifth District of the Metropolitan Police Department responded to reports of gunshots in the 1600 block of Gales Street, Northeast, Washington, DC. Upon arrival, they discovered 41-year-old Theodore Dewayne Riley Jr. suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services arrived at the scene and determined that Riley showed no signs of life.
