In the spring of 2024, a burst of gunfire shattered the afternoon calm in a Northeast Washington, D.C. neighborhood, leaving two men injured and one fighting for his life. The incident unfolded around 1:20 p.m. on Saturday, May 11th, in the 3600 block of Hayes Street, NE. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered two men suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Both victims were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
One of the men, who was conscious and breathing when officers found him, was treated for his injuries. The other man, 40-year-old Ellal Glover, succumbed to his injuries the following morning, on Sunday, May 12, 2024.
The Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch is leading the investigation into the fatal shooting. As of now, authorities have not made any arrests in connection with the case and have not released any information about a potential suspect or suspects. The police are urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward and have offered a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Mr. Glover's death.
