In the early hours of a Sunday morning in Washington, D.C., violence shattered the quiet of a Northeast neighborhood. On June 26, 2022, 23-year-old Markel Ford, a male resident of Northeast, D.C., was in the 500 block of 50th Street when gunfire erupted shortly before 12:45 a.m. Responding to reports of a shooting, officers from the Metropolitan Police Department's Sixth District arrived to find a chaotic scene with two men suffering from gunshot wounds.
