In a tragic turn of events on Valentine's Day 2015, a 46-year-old Hispanic male named Rodolfo Solis-Gonzalez was found deceased in a Las Vegas residence. A tenant discovered his lifeless body, bearing two gunshot wounds, inside a bedroom of a home located in the 3900 block of Saguaro Lane. Solis-Gonzalez, who was known as "Rudy" to the homeowners from whom he rented a room, was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
Homicide investigators from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department immediately began an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding his death.
Investigators soon learned that Solis-Gonzalez's grey 2012 Nissan Sentra was missing from the home, indicating a possible robbery connected to the homicide. The search for the vehicle proved to be a critical lead in the case. A few days later, on a Tuesday, officers from the North Las Vegas Police Department located the missing Sentra parked in a driveway in the 3300 block of Thomas Avenue.
The discovery of the car led to a significant breakthrough in the investigation. Police observed 33-year-old Cristina Sanchez-Perez, also known as Christina Delcarmen Sanchez, as she was getting into the stolen vehicle. Her arrest was not only linked to the homicide but also to a separate road rage incident that had occurred while she was driving the stolen Sentra. Sanchez-Perez had reportedly shot at another motorist on Interstate 15. Following her apprehension, she was booked at the Clark County Detention Center.
During the investigation, a motive for the killing came to light. Sanchez-Perez, who had been seeing Solis-Gonzalez for about a week, told police she was upset about a sexual encounter with him the day before the shooting. According to the arrest report, she claimed to have shot Solis-Gonzalez after he tried to initiate sex with her on Valentine's Day. She admitted to shooting him and also to firing her gun on the freeway during the road rage incident. Cristina Sanchez-Perez faced charges of first-degree murder, robbery with a deadly weapon, and discharging a firearm from a motor vehicle.
