In the late hours of a Tuesday night in Las Vegas, on March 3, 2015, the life of 18-year-old Hispanic female Yvonne Rose Reyes was tragically cut short. She was fatally shot at the Broadstone Talavera apartment complex located on South Fort Apache Road. The violent episode also claimed the lives of her 33-year-old mother, Veronica Caldwell, and her 21-year-old boyfriend, Cory Justin Childers.
The evening shattered after a domestic dispute escalated into unimaginable violence.
The man responsible was Blake Widmar, the 21-year-old husband of Yvonne's mother. Following the argument, Widmar pursued Yvonne, her mother, and her boyfriend out of their apartment and shot all three of them on an outdoor walkway. The aftermath was a scene of chaos and heartbreak, with one of the women pronounced dead at the scene and the other two victims succumbing to their injuries at University Medical Center.
After carrying out the horrific act, Widmar returned to the apartment and turned the gun on himself. He was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound and transported to the hospital in extremely critical condition. He died from his injuries on March 5, 2015. As the perpetrator died by his own hand, no arrests were made in connection with the triple homicide. The tragic event stemmed from a domestic violence situation that ultimately devastated a family and left a community in mourning.
