Her life was cut tragically short on the evening of Friday, March 9th. At some point between 8:00 p.m. that night and 4:30 a.m. the following morning, an unknown individual or individuals gained entry into her apartment located at 148 Ida Street, Apartment 50.
The grim discovery was made by a friend who happened to be passing by her residence.
The friend noticed that the door to Laurie's apartment was open and, upon looking inside, saw her body lying on the floor. The subsequent investigation determined that Laurie had been murdered by ligature.
Despite the efforts of law enforcement, the person or persons responsible for Laurie Gay Hesselink's death have never been identified. The case remains unsolved, with no suspects having been publicly named or arrested in connection with the crime.
