In the vast, unforgiving desert landscape on the outskirts of Las Vegas, a grim discovery was made on September 26, 2001. A person walking their dogs in the area near Hualapai Way and Sunset Road stumbled upon a shallow grave, unearthing the remains of a young woman. Responding officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department would soon identify her as Wanine Moreira Rodriguez, a 34-year-old Hispanic female of Brazilian nationality.
