Carrie Lee Parsons, a 31-year-old Caucasian woman, was tragically killed on October 1, 2017, in the mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas, Nevada. A resident of Seattle, Washington, she was in attendance at the country music festival with friends. Parsons, who worked as a recruiter for the employment firm Ajilon, had recently become engaged to be married.
The joyful atmosphere of the outdoor concert was shattered when a gunman opened fire on the crowd from the 32nd
floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel. In the ensuing chaos, Parsons was fatally wounded. The attack, which became one of the deadliest mass shootings in modern U.S. history, resulted in the deaths of 58 people that night and injured hundreds more.
The perpetrator was identified as 64-year-old Stephen Paddock of Mesquite, Nevada. Investigators determined that Paddock had meticulously planned the attack, amassing a large arsenal of weapons and ammunition in his hotel suite. Before law enforcement could breach his room, Paddock took his own life with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Despite extensive investigations into his background and motives, authorities were unable to determine a clear reason for his actions. No other suspects were identified or arrested in connection with the horrific event.
