In the quiet northwest Las Vegas valley, the tranquility of an autumn afternoon was shattered on October 4, 2016, marking the tragic end for 86-year-old Marilyn Guidry. A White/Caucasian female, Guidry was a mother and grandmother who was living with her grandson, Bradley Francis, his wife, and their son on the 2100 block of Henniker Way. On that day, a domestic situation escalated to a horrific act of violence that would spill out into the street for all to see.

forced to flee her own home in a desperate attempt to escape her 45-year-old grandson. Her escape was short-lived, as Francis pursued her into the street and subjected her to a brutal attack. He both beat and shot his grandmother, leaving her in the middle of the street near the intersection of West Lake Mead and North Rampart boulevards. She was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after police arrived. Some neighbors reported seeing that she was already bleeding when she ran from the house.
Following the attack, Bradley Francis returned to the home he shared with his family. A police air unit later spotted him in the backyard of a nearby residence, which led to a tense standoff with law enforcement. After approximately three hours of negotiations with the SWAT team, Francis surrendered to the authorities. As he was being taken into custody, he expressed a desire to die.
Bradley Francis was arrested and booked at the Clark County Detention Center on a murder charge and held without bail. In January 2017, he entered into a plea agreement, pleading guilty to the murder of his grandmother. As a result, he was sentenced to serve a minimum of 14 years and up to 45 years in the Nevada Department of Corrections.
