Teresa Nicol Kimura, a 38-year-old female, was a vibrant soul known for her infectious laugh and a personality that could light up a room. On the night of October 1, 2017, she was with a close-knit group of six friends, whom she considered family, at the Route 91 Harvest country music festival on the Las Vegas Strip. What was meant to be a joyous occasion turned into a scene of unimaginable horror when a gunman opened fire on the concertgoers from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and
Casino.
In the midst of the chaos and raining bullets, Kimura was struck. Her friends, who were with her at the festival, were thrown into a state of panic and confusion. In the immediate aftermath, they were separated. It was only later, after finding a moment of relative safety, that they received the devastating news of her passing. Out of her group of friends who attended the concert, only Kimura was hit by the gunfire.
The perpetrator of this horrific act was identified as 64-year-old Stephen Paddock. He had meticulously planned the attack, amassing a significant arsenal of weapons in his hotel room. Before law enforcement could apprehend him, Paddock took his own life. Investigations into the massacre concluded that Paddock acted alone, and his motives remain unclear. Consequently, no arrests were made in connection with the mass shooting that claimed the lives of 58 people, including Teresa Nicol Kimura. Her friends and family are left to remember a woman who was a "beacon of light" and whose spirit, they say, will live on with them forever.
