On December 1, 2023, at approximately 5:30 p.m., a tragic incident occurred near a freeway overpass in northeastern Las Vegas. A gunman, dropped off by a black SUV, opened fire on a homeless encampment, resulting in the deaths of Ashley Burrell and Timothy Brenton, and injuring three others. The assailant then fled the scene in the waiting vehicle.
