On a tragic day in Las Vegas, 16-year-old Maiya Deleon Flores, her mother Nohani Flores-Osuna, 41, and her 7-year-old brother, Noah Morales Flores, were found shot to death in their apartment near Sahara Avenue and Decatur Boulevard on September 1, 2026. Maiya was a student at Bonanza High School. The devastating loss has deeply affected their family and the community.

The suspect in the triple homicide was identified as 29-year-old Juan Carlos Orona, the boyfriend of Maiya's mother. According to police reports, the tragic events unfolded after Orona confronted Flores-Osuna about her alleged infidelity. Orona reportedly became suspicious after seeing his girlfriend's vehicle parked near her ex-boyfriend's car earlier that day. Later, during a heated argument at their apartment, Flores-Osuna allegedly admitted to being intimate with her ex-boyfriend and made a comment that enraged Orona. Orona claimed to have "blacked out" and, when he came to, he was holding his 9mm handgun, and the three victims were on the ground. Investigators found 10 spent 9mm cartridge casings at the scene.

In a surprising turn of events, Juan Orona turned himself in to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department on the evening of the murders. He reportedly called the police and confessed to shooting his girlfriend and her two children, providing them with the location of the crime. Orona was taken into custody and booked into the Clark County Detention Center. He is facing three counts of open murder with a deadly weapon and 10 counts of discharging a firearm into an occupied structure. During his initial court appearance, Orona appeared dejected and saddened. The case is currently moving through the court system, and Maiya's father, Conrado De Leon, has expressed his desire for the maximum possible sentence for the man accused of taking his daughter's life. The community mourns the loss of the three lives, remembering Maiya as a cheerful girl and her brother Noah as a kind and determined boy.
