In the late hours of March 2, 2026, the life of 20-year-old Danaijha Robinson was tragically cut short in Las Vegas, Nevada. Robinson was fatally shot while sitting in a parked car with a one-year-old girl, Nhalani Hiner, who was also killed in the attack. The two were waiting for a friend who had been pulled over in a traffic stop nearby.
The incident unfolded in a residential area in the southwest valley.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police officers were conducting the traffic stop when they heard a volley of gunshots from close by. Responding to the sound, they discovered the vehicle where Robinson and the young child were located, both having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Despite being rushed to a local hospital, neither survived their injuries.
The day after the shooting, a suspect was apprehended in Utah. Ziaire Ham, 22, was arrested by the Ogden City Police Department and the Utah Highway Patrol. Authorities in Utah located Ham in a stolen vehicle and, following his arrest, he reportedly confessed to the Las Vegas double homicide. During his confession, Ham stated that he was unaware a child was in the car at the time of the shooting.
Ham is currently being held in the Weber County Jail in Utah, awaiting extradition to Las Vegas. He is expected to face two counts of open murder and multiple counts of discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle. While a definitive motive has not been established, it has been reported that Ham felt like an "outcast" from his family.
