In the summer of 2022, the life of 15-year-old Marcello Santos, a Hispanic/Latino male, was tragically cut short in Las Vegas, Nevada. On the evening of July 13th, police discovered a heartbreaking scene inside a home in the 3800 block of Via Lucia Drive. Young Marcello and his 37-year-old mother, Marcella Scott, were both found deceased.
Investigators from the Metropolitan Police Department quickly determined the incident to be a murder-suicide.
The Clark County coroner's office confirmed that Marcello's death was a homicide caused by a gunshot wound. His mother, Marcella Scott, was identified as the shooter. After taking her son's life, Scott died by suicide.
The authorities did not release any further details regarding the motive or the circumstances leading up to the tragic event. As the sole perpetrator was deceased, the investigation concluded without any arrests or the naming of any other suspects. The community was left to mourn the loss of a young life ended in such a devastating manner.
