On the afternoon of September 23, 1978, the sharp crack of gunshots echoed near 21st and Larimer Streets in Denver, drawing the attention of nearby police officers who were in the midst of a service call. Responding to the sound, the officers made a grim discovery in the 1300 block of 21st Street. There, they found the body of 31-year-old Owen Snorgrass, a white male, who had been fatally wounded.
