In the afternoon hours of Halloween in 2021, a call reporting an accidental shooting sent Denver police to a residence on Syracuse Street. When they arrived, they found 14-year-old Jy’Air Johnston suffering from a gunshot wound. The young male was rushed to a nearby hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
