On the evening of October 16, 1980, Terry Snyder, a 32-year-old white male, left to show a vacant residence to prospective renters in Denver, Colorado. As the store manager for Downing Appliances, this was a task he undertook as part of his responsibilities. When he did not return home that night, his family grew worried and alerted the police.
