On a spring evening in Denver, Colorado, the life of 50-year-old Mario Horta came to a violent and tragic end. On April 1, 1980, within the familiar confines of his own auto repair shop, Mario's Transmission, both he and his stepson were discovered shot to death. The shop, located near the intersection of West 44th Avenue and Clay Street, was the scene of a double homicide that would leave a lasting scar on the community and remain a puzzle for law enforcement for decades to come.
