Alonzo Bencomo, a 34-year-old Hispanic male, had just returned to his residence at 250 South Osceola Street in Denver on the evening of October 3, 2011. After parking his car in the alley by his garage, he began to walk into his backyard. It was in this familiar space that he was suddenly confronted by several unknown individuals. The encounter tragically escalated, and Alonzo was shot.
Following the shooting, he was rushed to Denver Health in a private vehicle.
Despite the efforts to save him, he was pronounced deceased at the hospital. An autopsy later confirmed that Alonzo Bencomo died from a gunshot wound to the thorax. The Denver Police Department opened a homicide investigation into his death, but details about the motive or the identities of the individuals who confronted him remained elusive.
