In the spring of 1985, Leroy Wiley, a 64-year-old Black man, was a familiar face in his Denver community as the owner and operator of Leroy's TV and Electronics store. On the morning of April 11th, his life took a tragic turn when an unknown individual or individuals entered his place of business. The intruder, or intruders, shot Mr. Wiley and quickly fled the scene, leaving him gravely wounded.
Emergency services arrived and transported him to a local hospital.
For a time, it seemed he might survive the violent encounter. However, the severity of the gunshot wound ultimately proved to be fatal. Nearly two months after the shooting, on June 3, 1985, Leroy Wiley succumbed to his injuries and passed away. The incident, which began as an assault, was now a homicide investigation for the Denver Police Department.
Despite the passage of time, the case remains unsolved. The suspect or suspects responsible for the shooting death of Leroy Wiley have never been identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with the case. The investigation into who entered his electronics store that April morning and ended his life is still open, with authorities continuing to seek information from the public that might lead to a resolution.
