In the late morning of September 25, 2021, a burst of gunfire shattered the Saturday calm in the parking lot of a Walgreens in Broomfield, Colorado. When the violence subsided, 19-year-old Javier Garcia Jr. was dead, and two of his companions, an 18-year-old woman and a juvenile male, were wounded. The incident, which unfolded around 11:30 a.m. near Midway Boulevard and Zuni Street, was not a random act of violence; the individuals involved were known to each other.
