In the late hours of a Tuesday in Colorado Springs, the life of 26-year-old Shelley Dorsey, a white female, was tragically cut short. On March 24, 2015, Dorsey was sitting in her car at the Mountain Country Estates Apartments in the 100 block of South Academy Boulevard when an unknown assailant fired a gun, fatally wounding her. The Colorado Springs Police Department responded to the shooting and her death was subsequently ruled a homicide. At the time of the incident, it was reported that she was in the vehicle with her boyfriend when the shots were fired around 1:00 a.m.
Shelley was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served from 2010 to 2012. Born on February 1, 1989, she was a graduate of Fountain-Fort Carson High School's class of 2007. Described as a kind and loving person who always saw the best in everyone, she was a mother to a young son, Michael, who was 18 months old at the time of her death. Her family and friends remember her for the love she had for life and the time she cherished spending with her son and loved ones.
Despite the passage of time, no arrests have been made in connection with Shelley Dorsey's murder, and the case has grown cold. Investigators have not publicly identified any suspects. In the years following her death, her family has continued to seek answers and keep her memory alive. They have held vigils and a billboard with her picture was erected overlooking the parking lot where she was killed, in the hopes that someone with information will come forward.
