The primary suspect in her death was identified by law enforcement as her 40-year-old ex-husband, Demetrius Moore. Following the discovery of Alicia's death, a manhunt for Demetrius was initiated by the authorities. The search came to a dramatic and violent end on October 23, 2016. After being located by police, Demetrius Moore engaged in a shootout with officers. He was ultimately killed by police during the confrontation.
Subsequent investigations into the incident determined that the officers involved in the fatal shooting of Demetrius Moore were justified in their actions.
