On May 16, 2024, a tragic incident occurred in the Security-Widefield area of unincorporated El Paso County, Colorado. Esmeralda Contreras-Mata, a 25-year-old woman, and Thabiso Makhafola, a 31-year-old man, were found dead in a residence on Cottonwood Drive.
