Lonnie Harris Jr., a 52-year-old man, was shot and killed in Denver, Colorado on June 28, 2017. The incident occurred in the early morning, around 3:00 to 3:15 a.m., outside his home in the 9200 block of East Nassau Avenue, near Interstate 225 and Yosemite. Harris was returning from his job as a communications engineer at Comcast when he was fatally shot.
He was walking along the side of the townhouses after parking his black Mercedes when the shooting happened.
At the time of the initial investigation, police indicated that the shooting did not appear to be random and believed Harris was targeted. Investigators were exploring robbery as a possible motive, as his pocket was turned inside out and his wallet was discovered nearby. Neighbors reported hearing gunshots, and there were accounts of a white car quickly leaving the area after the shooting.
As of November 2017, the murder of Lonnie Harris Jr. remained unsolved, with police having few leads. His family, desperate for answers, contributed to a reward fund, which grew to $22,000 for any information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for his death. The Denver Police Department and Metro Denver Crime Stoppers have continued to appeal to the public for any information regarding the case. There have been no reports of any arrests or named suspects in connection with the homicide.
