On September 25, 2017, the life of 24-year-old Dominique Chandler Cozy was tragically cut short in his home in the 2200 block of S. Delaware Street in Denver, Colorado. That evening, at approximately 9:45 p.m., Cozy was shot and killed during what authorities described as an attempted robbery that turned violent. The incident was part of a planned burglary at his residence.
The investigation into the homicide led to the identification and arrest of multiple individuals.
Six adults and one juvenile were ultimately charged in connection with the case. The adult suspects were identified as William Webb, Mikie Tarango, Quenon Glaspy, Savannah Leisegang, Kylan Sapp, and Tyjonn Villa. The Denver District Attorney's Office pursued charges against them that included first-degree murder, felony murder, and attempted aggravated robbery. The motive for the robbery was reported to involve drugs.
The legal proceedings that followed brought a measure of justice for Dominique Cozy's death. In the summer of 2018, several of the suspects pleaded guilty. Savannah Leisegang pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery and was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Quenon Glaspy, Mikie Tarango, and Kylan Sapp each pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. Sapp received a 22-year prison sentence, Glaspy was sentenced to 30 years, and Tarango received a 32-year sentence. Later that year, in November, Tyjonn Villa was convicted by a jury of felony murder, second degree murder, and attempt to commit second degree burglary. The case against William Webb, who was alleged to have been involved in the planning of the burglary, was scheduled for trial. A 17-year-old female was also arrested in Houston, Texas, and faced a charge of accessory to murder in juvenile court.
