On January 1, 2007, Darrent Demarcus Williams, a 24-year-old cornerback for the Denver Broncos, was tragically killed in a drive-by shooting in downtown Denver, Colorado. The incident occurred just hours after the Broncos played their final game of the 2006 season against the San Francisco 49ers. Following the game, Williams and several of his teammates attended a New Year's Eve party and birthday celebration for Denver Nuggets player Kenyon Martin at a nightclub called Shelter.
