On August 1, 2020, 16-year-old Diego Gonzales-Vigil was fatally shot during a large gathering in Denver's Westwood neighborhood. The incident occurred shortly after midnight in the 3000 block of West Virginia Avenue, near the intersection of Virginia and South Federal Boulevard. Responding officers discovered multiple victims with gunshot wounds; Gonzales-Vigil was pronounced dead at the scene.
