Darryl Tyrone Clark, a 33-year-old Black man, was found fatally shot just before 1 a.m. on March 4, 2018, lying in the roadway at the intersection of Yuma Street and East Yampa Street in Colorado Springs. The El Paso County Coroner identified him the following day, confirming his name and age as investigators canvassed the quiet residential blocks where the night had turned violent.
Detectives quickly focused on a suspect. On March 5, Colorado Springs police obtained a first-degree murder warrant for 44-year-old Adonis Ondrae Anderson, and within two days Anderson surrendered at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center. Authorities publicly named him as the suspect linked to Clark’s killing at the intersection, but left other investigative details sealed as the case moved into the courts.
In the days that followed, Clark’s family mourned publicly.
