In the winter of 2019, a seemingly innocuous invitation to dance set in motion a tragic chain of events that culminated in the death of Juan Manuel Galindo Argumedo, a 41-year-old man in Aurora, Colorado. On the evening of December 19th, Argumedo reportedly asked a woman to dance. This simple gesture was met with fatal consequences at the hands of the woman's husband, Alexander Albayero.
Following the request, Albayero followed Argumedo into the parking lot of the establishment.
There, in a senseless act of violence, Albayero shot Argumedo once in the torso. Emergency services were called to the scene, and Argumedo was rushed to a nearby hospital, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. The motive for this violent outburst appeared to be rooted in Albayero's reaction to Argumedo's interaction with his wife.
The investigation into Juan Manuel Galindo Argumedo's death led authorities to Alexander Albayero. The evidence against him was substantial, including ballistics that matched a handgun seized from him to the bullet recovered from the crime scene. Albayero was arrested and stood trial for the murder. An Adams County jury found him guilty of 1st Degree Murder. For the murder of Juan Manuel Galindo Argumedo, the judge sentenced Albayero to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Disturbingly, the investigation into Argumedo's murder revealed that Albayero was responsible for another killing just three weeks later. He was separately convicted for the murder of David Guerrero-Rodriguez, which occurred on January 3, 2020. For this second murder, he received an additional sentence of 48 years in prison. The back-to-back killings committed by Albayero left two men dead and highlighted a shocking capacity for violence.
