On the evening of August 26, 2021, a report of an unresponsive male drew Brockton police to 102 Walnut Street. There, they discovered Maxwell Gervais, a 21-year-old man, on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to his head. The shooting took place at approximately 6:01 p.m.
Emergency responders transported Gervais to Good Samaritan Hospital. He was later flown by medical helicopter to Boston Medical Center for further treatment.
Despite the efforts of medical staff, Gervais succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead just before 2 a.m. on August 27, 2021.
The investigation into the death of Maxwell Gervais is being handled by both the Brockton Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police. Authorities have not yet publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the fatal shooting. Law enforcement has urged anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward and contact Brockton detectives to assist with the ongoing investigation.
