In the early hours of Friday, March 28, 2025, the life of 20-year-old Syncere Lindsay, a Black male from Brockton, Massachusetts, was cut short by gun violence. The events leading to his death began to unfold around 3:30 a.m. when Brockton Police received a 911 call about a male, described as wearing a dark-colored jacket with fur, who was reportedly trying to open the doors of parked cars along Monson Street.
At approximately the same time, another 911 call was placed by a resident who
reported hearing the sound of gunshots and then witnessing a person lying face down on the sidewalk. Police and emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the scene, where they found Syncere Lindsay in front of 88 Lenox Street with an apparent gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.
The Plymouth County District Attorney's Office, along with the Massachusetts State Police and the Brockton Police, are actively investigating the shooting. Authorities have stated that, preliminarily, the incident does not appear to be a random act of violence, suggesting that Lindsay may have been targeted. As of now, details regarding any potential suspects or arrests in connection with the homicide have not been released to the public. The investigation remains ongoing as law enforcement works to piece together the circumstances that led to the fatal shooting.
