On January 5, 2014, Basir Amaker, a 24-year-old Black male from Philadelphia, PA, tragically lost his life in a triple shooting incident on the 6200 block of Media Street. Amaker was shot multiple times in the chest and was pronounced deceased at Lankenau Hospital around 9:40 p.m. Another victim, 24-year-old Karon Bailey, also succumbed to his injuries that night, while a third victim, a 22-year-old male, was shot in the leg but survived.
