On April 8, 2023, 21-year-old Joseph Lighty of South Philadelphia was fatally shot during an altercation at the Walnut-Locust Station on SEPTA's Broad Street Line in Center City, Philadelphia. The incident began around 2:37 p.m. as an "animated conversation" between Lighty and 36-year-old Phillip Riddick near the 200 block of South Broad Street.
