On September 24, 2015, the life of 17-year-old Jacob Ryan Davidoff was tragically cut short in his Gresham, Oregon, home. The male teenager was found deceased from a gunshot wound in the residence located in the 2800 block of Southeast Rosefinch Drive.
Following the discovery of Jacob's body, his mother, Dianne M. Davidoff, was arrested in connection with his death. She was subsequently charged with murder and unlawful use of a weapon.
Despite the charges, the legal proceedings have been complex. A judge determined that Dianne Davidoff was not mentally fit to stand trial and ordered her to undergo a psychiatric evaluation at the Oregon State Hospital in Salem. She has pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against her.
The family was struck by further tragedy in the wake of Jacob's death. Less than a month later, Jacob's father, Ryan Davidoff, was found deceased in the family home. Authorities reported his death appeared to be the result of an overdose of medication, and no foul play was suspected.
Jacob was remembered by loved ones as a quiet young man who had a passion for video games. A memorial service was held for him at Good Shepherd Community Church in Boring, Oregon. He is survived by his sister, Katelyn Davidoff, and his grandparents. A GoFundMe account was established by his sister to assist with funeral expenses.
