In the early morning hours of May 5, 2025, a call about a "suspicious circumstance" led Gresham police to a mobile home park in the 2600 block of Northeast 201st Avenue. There, they discovered the body of 22-year-old Ahanu Johnson, a Black male who had been fatally shot. The initial suspicious death investigation was quickly escalated, and authorities confirmed it to be a homicide.
The East County Major Crimes Team was brought in to lead the investigation into Johnson's death.
Detectives began to piece together the events leading up to the shooting, seeking information about Johnson's whereabouts and activities on May 4th and 5th. Their investigation led them to identify 21-year-old Quincy Teklehiamanot of Troutdale as the primary suspect.
On the morning of May 14, 2025, the East Metro SWAT team executed an arrest warrant at Teklehiamanot's home in Troutdale, taking him into custody without incident. He was subsequently charged with second-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of Ahanu Johnson. Authorities have asked anyone with further information about the deadly shooting to contact Gresham Police detectives.
