In the early morning hours of May 5, 2025, a call about a "suspicious circumstance" led Gresham police to a mobile home park in the 2600 block of Northeast 201st Avenue. There, they discovered the body of 22-year-old Ahanu Johnson, a Black male who had been fatally shot. The initial suspicious death investigation was quickly escalated, and authorities confirmed it to be a homicide.
