In the early evening of March 5, 2022, a tragic event unfolded in Gresham, Oregon, leading to the death of 57-year-old Daniel Leon Bowers, a Caucasian male. The incident occurred in the parking lot of an apartment complex on the 18000 block of Southeast Market Street. Responding to a call around 5:15 p.m., Gresham Police officers discovered Bowers on the ground, having sustained a single gunshot wound to his torso.
He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention but unfortunately succumbed to his injury and passed away.
The investigation into the shooting swiftly identified a person of interest. Not long after the incident, 26-year-old Kyle Michael James Banry contacted the Portland Police, expressing his desire to surrender. Banry arranged to meet with officers at the intersection of Southeast 122nd Avenue and Grant Street, where he was taken into custody without incident.
Following his surrender, Kyle Michael James Banry was arrested and subsequently charged with murder and unlawful use of a weapon. He was then booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center. While an arrest has been made, the Gresham Police Department has not publicly released a motive or the specific circumstances that led to the fatal shooting. They have, however, encouraged anyone with additional information regarding the case to come forward and contact their tip line.
